Grandma's Melodies

Tragic Flight

Having the curse-driven monster fell asleep warmed your heart with hope. From grandma's tear-stained letters, you knew singing her lullaby may rustle the beast, make it snore and buy you some time. Thankfully, your voice mirrored the soft tones with precision, waking the magic in grandma's 'Slumber Song.' With the hulking monster sleeping, you've got your break. Unafraid but, cautious still, you planned to whisk yourself away to safety clutching the jar of grandma's magic moon-jam.

Not a single breath deeper you took, spinning away gently in whisper effort while the content in the precious jar piped along. Mid-twirl, the heel of your wandering toe tapped on to an ugly pebble. Almost tripping onto the ground, you did your best to catch yourself in the nick of time, your pulse singing the rhythm of raw dread. Hold tight to grandma's jar, you reminded yourself. The jar did a shaky little jiggle, stuttering silence of your disquiet into the songs of sugary balance to stop the beast.

Suddenly, the cold waves of waking fear washed over the sleeping brute ending its magical slumber. A pair of blink-blink happened quicker than shooting stars. It opened its rocky yet, gleaming eyes, igniting a terrible glow. A growl echoed, shaking the ground making the beast’s shadow spread like a cornerless dark blot. With your heart pounding and hands trembling with grandma's wonder jam close to your chest, you started humming her second melody, a soothing tune she called the 'Peace Prelude.' Bits of songs jumped out, full of power so raw yet profound. Would this brave song put the beast black to sleep or make it fall under an enchanted spell? You held the vision of safety in your brave gaze and continued routing the path with an unseen cricket scores tune. With innocent trust and humble audacity as your shield, you face the ever-casting shadow knowing the consumed night needs saved.

The End
