Rebellion's Written Souls

Fatal Mistake

Taking a deep breath, you decide it's time to cast the spell. With the magic book under one arm, you start your journey towards the ruler's castle. You feel excited but also a little scared. Anything could happen, you know. However, hope fills your heart as your footsteps echo in the quiet. You’ve got a plan and the will to see it through.

As you pass a big tree and round a sharp bend, the castle comes into view, big and imposing. It’s a lot scary than imagined. Possibly sensing your fear, the magic book hums softly. Suddenly your foot loosens a stone on the path, you lose balance, and tumble down a steep rocky slope. As you slide you see, with huge shock and disappointment, it was a hidden trap!

Scrambling to your feet, you realize you’re at the bottom of a pit. Daylight feels like a small circle far above. You sigh dejectedly looking up. The magic book seems silent too - as if knowing, your mistake led the rebellion to a critical, dangerous, new turn. Instead of casting the spell at the castle, you've fallen into a trap. Now you sit down there, alone and a bit scared, while you know up there the ruler's army is growing stronger. Even in the silence though, you can’t stop the feeling of hope sparking within you. Like a story unwritten, there’s still a chance to make things right and bring the change. The question is - how?
