The Treasure Thief.
The acorn attack
Barely catching your breath, your tiny squirrel heart racing, you feel a hint of victory – the menacing falcon is not something to trifle with, after all! You had hurled your limited supply of acorns at her with all the precision and cunning a little squirrel can muster. The falcon flaps her mighty wings and catches air, leaving you alone in the branches. You giggle a little – acorns aren't just for snacking anymore, you think!
Now, safe for a moment, you perch yourself on a friendly looking branch. It's larger than some of the others you've been clambering around on – good for balancing, good for planning. As you seat yourself comfortably in the groove of this new woody friend, two potential paths stretch out ahead of you – to the left, a rough-hewn cluster of branches twist and turn their way off into a darker section of the forest. To the right, the sun plays cheerfully on sturdy looking shoots sprung from the heart of your tree. One path is enticing, flickering with the promise of sunlight and safety. The other is less inviting but mysterious and quiet in its darkness – who knows what you might find there!
You tap your tiny squirrel chin, deep in thought. To be a cunning squirrel like you is to take risks and to make choices. There are more magic acorns waiting for you – and the forgotten troll's treasure cave remains teasingly out of reach.
